Dana Saal was my first hire after I became executive director of the Illinois Health Care Association in 1989. Other qualified people with more experience submitted applications; but after interviewing Dana, I knew she was my choice. While she was young and had limited professional experience, she had the talents I was looking for: organized, professional, personable, and creative. The system she developed and put in place has been updated, but never replaced.
During Dana’s tenure at IHCA, we expanded our trade show several times as the numbers of vendors and participants increased. She was well-liked and respected by the membership and staff and was full of very good ideas. A good decision on my part was made when I hired her.
